   Teaching Plan Interpretation

   Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.I’m  Zhu  Hongyan ,an English teacher from < xmlnamespace prefix ="st1" ns ="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Shibajiazi Middle  School. I’m  very glad  to  have  the chance  to stand   here to  talk about  the topic  of  “What were you  doing   when  the  UFO   arrived?”The topic is   selected   from  the  book   Go for  it Students’ Book Grade  8  Unit 3  Section  A.The  content  I’m going to  talk  about  is   the  period  from  1a-2c  in  Section A.

Part  One   Analysis  of  the  Teaching   Material.

  Status   and    Function.

In  this  unit students  learn  to   talk  about   past  events and to  tell   a story  .A  new grammar  is   appeared  in  this  unit,that  is  the past progressive tense.If the Ss can learn this  well,it’ll   be easy   for them to learn  the  following  parts of this  unit.And   this  lesson  isn’t   relevant  to the previous  units,so  it is a  new  lesson for the Ss,they are at the same  level.They  have  more  curiosity .

Teaching   Aims.

1 Knowledge   Objects:I  want   Ss  to  achieve  the  following   points:

a   Let  the  Ss   learn  the target    words and expressions:baber shopkitchenbathroomget out.

b    let  the  Ss  grasp the  target  languages:

What  were you  doing  when  the  UFO  arrived?

I  was  standing in  front  of   the library.

While  the alien was  buying  a souvenir, the  girl  called the police.

2Ability   Objects:

To   make  conversations  using  the  target sentences.To   train  Ss’  ability  of  listening and speaking.

To   cultivate   Ss’  interests  in learning  English.

3Moral  Objects:

Let  the students  know  about  each other.

  Teaching  Importance  and  Different  Points.

1、         Teaching  Importance:To  master the important  vocabulary  and important  languages.

2、         Teaching   Difficuty.

The  teaching  difficuty is  the usuage of   the grammar.For  the difficuty,I arrange  some  activities  to  reduce the difficuty.

ⅣTeaching   tools.

   Computerpowerpoint   and  so on.They  will  be   needed  in this  lesson.

Part two  Teaching Methods

The  new  grammar is  difficult for  them to understand.’ll put Ss’ abitity on priority. The Ss are almost 14--15years old, they all like to show to the class and to act and imitate in the class. So I design some activities to arouse Ss’ interest, let them learn from games and use in games. Furthermore, learning English in middle school is to cultivate students’ basic abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing and their good sense of the English language, so in this lesson I mainly use “Task-based” teaching method, and in this lesson communication method, scene method are all used.

Part Three  Learning Methods

For students, the Learning Methods are also very important. I request the Ss to study English independently and cooperatively.  Each unit in Go For It  contains pair work, group work and games, the Ss who sit at the same table and groups can make dialogues and discussion and learn from each other. It makes each student be relaxed. They needn’t worry about making mistakes; it can arouse Ss to think and to say what they want to say. Ss become more relaxed and pleased in this kind of environment.   

Part Four: Teaching Procedure

Now let’s look at the most important part that is the Teaching Procedure. I’ll talk about it from the following  three steps:

Step I   Pre—task.

First   of   all,I will  let  some  students  talk about something   they like  talking about. Through this activity,train  the  Ss’  ability of  speaking.

 I  ask  one  student   to leave the  room  and wait  outside  the  door.Then  ask   different  students  to start doing  different  things.For  example,one student walks aroud the room,one   student   stands   on the chair , another  sudent   looks  out  of the  window.Then  ask   the  student outside the  door  to  come in  and ask  the  students   the  questions:What were you doing  when   Student  A  walked  in?Help  them  answer  the  questions.:I  was  doing-----  Practice  the  new  grammar in the  real situation.

Purpose of design: Good beginning is the half of success. Arouse Ss’ interest at the beginning and draw Ss’ attention.

Step II  While—task.

 1 In this part , ask  the  students   to   make  conversations with  when  and  while from this  unit.

Through the former activity, this time Ss can do it easily.

2Devide   the  students into  four  groups .Let  them do more sentences .

Purpose of design: Acting can arouse Ss’ interest and practice to use the target words and sentences. So this group work can achieve the teaching purpose. If they act well, I’ll praise them.

3 practice the  listening  text.

In this part, I arrange the listening exercise from easy to difficult, from 1b, 2a to 2b. I also ask Ss to pay attention to the key words. This can reduce the difficulty of the listening material. If some Ss do the most questions I’ll praise him or her and give them a red star.

Purpose of design: arrange the listening material ftom easy to difficult is helpful for Ss’ listening ability cultivation.

Step Ⅲ  Post—task.

After   the  activities, now Ss already know the usage of  the Past  Progressive  Tense.In order to cultivate Ss’ conclusion ability, I also ask Ss in one group to conclude the main content of the class. “What have you learnt in this class?”.

Today’s homework is  to write  some  sentences  about  the past  events .Next class   ,let them  talk  about  something  before  class.

Part Five: After Teaching:

1.  Prepare well for each teaching steps and think well what you are going to say in the class.

2.  Prepare well let most Ss take part in the class.
